Multi-instrumentalist, Lara explores different combinations of percussion, from drums to various instruments with African roots, as well as singing and playing guitar. 

Lara Klaus is an acclaimed drummer, vocalist, and artist originating from Recife, Brazil, currently residing in Montreal, Canada. With a Postgraduate Degree in Music Therapy and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Lara's dedication to her craft is evident in her diverse talents and accomplishments.

 

Described as "remarkably versatile" by Le Devoir, Lara dedicates her life to performances and music mediation, seamlessly blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms with contemporary soul-pop influences. Her musical journey has seen her collaborate with renowned Brazilian artists such as Elba Ramalho and Moraes Moreira, and grace prestigious stages including the Montreux Jazz Festival. In addition to her prowess as a performer, Lara is an exceptional communicator and educator, conducting music and percussion workshops with communities worldwide. 

 

As a solo artist, Lara has released compelling works such as her debut album, "Força do Gesto," as well as singles like "Poeira Estelar," "Rodavida," and her latest track, "Quando o samba é bom". These pieces showcase her exceptional talent and creativity as a musician, composer, and collaborator. Lara's performances have led her to festivals such as Festival International Nuits d'Afrique, Festijazz de Rimouski, and Festival Musique du Bout du Monde, along with the Syli d’Or de la Musique du Monde in Montreal, Canada. Her captivating stage presence has garnered her numerous accolades, including the "Public Favorite Award" and "Coup De Coeur" from the Arts Council of Montreal.

 

Beyond her solo endeavors, Lara is a founding member of LADAMA, a powerhouse ensemble of four women from different parts of the Americas. Their albums, "LADAMA" and "OYE MUJER," have received critical acclaim, reaching #1 on Amazon’s and iTunes’ Latin Charts. LADAMA's TED talk and NPR Tiny Desk Concert have garnered hundreds of thousands of views, cementing their reputation as trailblazers in the music industry.
